Sealing

We recommend that you seal your Hartstone tile surface to protect it from staining and for ease of maintenance.

Sealing also helps waterproof the mortar joints.

Sealing should take place within 6-8 weeks of installation.

THERE ARE TWO PRIMARY TYPES OF SEALERS :

Penetrating: 

Exterior applications

Low in solids

You cannot tell it is on once it has dried so it has a more natural look

Coating:

Interior applications

Higher solids 30% or more

Ease of maintenance -Mop, Wipe, Clean up spills

Slightly alters the color of your floor

Coating type sealer is a lower maintenance choice indoors, and a higher maintenance choice outdoors (since more frequent application will be needed due to sun and weather).

Coating type sealer is NOT recommended for exterior installations.
