CLEANING

We recommend using a mild detergent (such as Dawn Dishwashing Soap) and scrub brush. NEVER USE A POWER WASHER OR ACID TO CLEAN HARTSTONE TILES.

When landscaping follows installation, unnecessary soiling of the tile surface should be avoided. We strongly recommend protecting the tiles during this period with some sort of sheeting. This makes the clean up prior to sealing much easier and preserves the inherent qualities of the tile.

SEALING

For Hartstone tiles that are installed outside and therefore are exposed to rain and sun, we recommend that you use only a penetrating sealer. A natural stone sealer with no more than 20% solids is a good choice. Typically this sealer goes on like water, dries instantly, does not change the appearance of the tile and helps the mortar joints repel moisture.

Sealing should not take place for at least 12 weeks after installation and should be reapplied every three to five years.
